Today in Class: February 7th

Learning Goals 
1. Spell and know meanings of words with prefixes dis-, de-, out-, un-.
2. Identify and correct spelling and grammar errors in writing.
3. Research and develop a presentation on a figurative language term.

Agenda
  • Warm-up: Caught'ya Multiple Choice
  • The City of Ember: Review Chapters 11 / Read Chapter 12 together
  • Figurative Language Group Project
Group Project
You will work in groups of 3-4 to learn about and research one type of figurative language: Personification, Simile, Metaphor, Alliteration, Onomatopoeia, or Hyperbole. Your group will create a presentation designed to teach the rest of the class about your topic. You should include one or more of the following products or performance methods:
  • Poster
  • Demonstration
  • Skit
  • Song
  • Cartoon
  • Dance
  • Model
  • Poem
  • Power Point
  • Anything else!
    Homework
    1. Finish reading Ember Chapter 12
    2. Complete "Caught'ya" Multiple Choice & Look up 5 vocab words
    3. Continue working on Literary Term presentation (you will have about 30 minutes tomorrow to collaborate with your group and pull your presentation together).
